The Swedish Gaming Authority (Spelinspektionen) has officially prohibited Small House BV from operating within the country due to the company’s lack of the necessary licensing. This decision is part of Spelinspektionen’s ongoing efforts to ensure that all gambling activities in Sweden are conducted exclusively by licensed operators, thereby protecting consumers and maintaining market integrity.

Small House BV is the latest in a series of companies to face such bans. In June, Spelinspektionen took similar actions against several other firms, including Itsfail, Teamfail, MRSL NV, and NewEra BV, for operating without the requisite licenses. These measures aim to maintain the regulatory framework and provide a secure and fair gambling environment for Swedish players.

Besides banning unlicensed operators, Spelinspektionen actively enforces its regulations by imposing fines on companies that violate Swedish gambling regulations. For instance, in June 2024, Kanon Gaming was fined SEK 7 million (approximately $667,000) for multiple infractions, including inadequate player protection measures.

The Swedish Gaming Authority publishes a list of banned operators and revoked decisions on its website, which can be accessed by any player in the country. By offering transparency and information to the public, the regulator seeks to promote licensed operations and raise awareness about the dangers related to gambling on unlicensed online casinos.

Yggdrasil Fined Earlier This Year

Yggdrasil, a globally recognized iGaming provider, was fined SEK 300,000 (approximately €26,218) by Spelinspektionen earlier this year for allegedly providing gaming software to a firm that does not have an official license to operate in Sweden. In addition to the fine, the company also received a formal warning.

The investigation into Yggdrasil began on January 16 of this year, when Spelinspektionen started scrutinizing websites operated by unlicensed operators in Sweden. The inquiry revealed that Yggdrasil was supplying software to one of these unlicensed websites, according to Spelinspektionen’s draft decision.

This action is in violation of chapter eleven, section six of the Swedish Gambling Act, which states that holders of gaming software licenses are prohibited from supplying software to entities without a proper license. Yggdrasil’s software license, issued on March 22 of the previous year, permits the company to install, supply, and design gaming software for online gaming in Sweden, and it is valid until June 20, 2028.

Moreover, at the start of the year, the Swedish Regulator found that NGG Nordic Limited and SkillOnNet Limited lost their appeals against the decision to be fined for contravening the nation’s rules on the provision of bonus offers.
